Barking Gas Safety Certificates

Gas safety rules can be difficult to interpret, particularly in cases where only certain rooms in a property with a gas supply are let. PGS has a thorough understanding of the gas safety rules and can therefore help you find out whether your property requires Barking Gas Safety Certificates.

It should always be documented in the contract between you and a managing agent who is liable for organising Barking Gas Safety Certificates from a Gas Safe certified expert. However, even if the agent assumes this responsibility, the Health and Safety Executive still recommend that the landlord asks for duplicates of all gas safety records so that you can be sure of meeting your legal needs.

To obtain the necessary Barking Gas Safety Certificates the property must be evaluated by a qualified technician. A certificate will only be supplied once the technician is happy the property’s gas system is completely safe, at which point the tenant should be provided a copy of the certificate within 28 days, and the landlord should retain a copy for two years.

Rented dwellings must be successful in several tests before Barking Gas Safety Certificates can be granted. These tests can be performed by a PGS professional, and include testing for gas discharges, errors in fitting, unsafe workings, ventilation, pressures, and issues with the removal of the products of rust.
