SE6 Gas Safety Certificates

In cases where rental accommodation is managed by an agent, the contract you have should make it obvious who is responsible for acquiring SE6 Gas Safety Certificates from a Gas Safe approved engineer. Regardless of who assumes this responsibility, the Health and Safety Executive advises that you obtain copies of all tests and services performed on the building to ensure all legal requirements are met.

Letting agents and landlords sometimes have trouble remembering when their SE6 Gas Safety Certificates need updating, or when the yearly safety assessment of their property is due. To make your life easier, PGS provides a service whereby you are automatically contacted when these checks are due.

Property owners without legitimate SE6 Gas Safety Certificates for their properties can be disciplined strictly. Such reprimands can even include a criminal conviction in cases where poorly maintained gas appliances result in harm or death and you will also have your insurance withdrawn.

In cases where a rented room in a property does not itself have gas heating, but there is a gas boiler in the building, the landlord must still obtain the relevant SE6 Gas Safety Certificates. If you are uncertain whether or not your building requires certification, PGS can provide guidance.

With PGS, SE6 Gas Safety Certificates for one or two appliances cost 90, and our Gas Safe accredited plumbers can provide supplementary certificates for 25 per appliance. Any maintenance work undertaken before the certificates can be provided is charged separately and in addition to the cost of the certificates.
