Furzedown Gas Safety Certificates

It is often the rental agent who arranges for a Gas Safe endorsed technician to visit a property and grant Furzedown Gas Safety Certificates. However, this responsibility should be formally documented within your property management contract, and the Health and Safety Executive encourages you to get copies of details relating to all gas safety-related work performed to ensure it meets all legal demands.

Even though CORGI still continues to operate, it is now only a membership organisation and if tradesmen want to supply gas services they must be registered with Gas Safe. Even if a room in a building is rented out without gas heating, but there is a gas boiler in the property, the landlord must be able to present a valid certificate. If you’re not sure whether your property requires Furzedown Gas Safety Certificates, then you can contact PGS for further advice.

To gain the Furzedown Gas Safety Certificates for your properties, an inspection must be made and approved by a suitable engineer. The authorised specialist will award the relevant certificates once all appliances have been inspected and any safety issues have been resolved, and then the landlord is required to give the tenant a duplicate within 28 days and for two years keep a duplicate themselves.

Landlords are obliged by law to make sure their rented properties with a gas supply are examined by a Gas Safe endorsed engineer every year.
